Sydney has some one the world’s most beautiful beaches, clear water, white soft sand and lots of sunshine (and sunrays, use SPF!). Best part is all the beaches are within close proximity and are mostly accessible by bus or car (parking is limited). I’ve tried to capture some of my favourites below, head to the map at the bottom of the page to set your bearings.

The perfect beach for sunbathing and getting the giant floaties out. It’s a different kind of beach with two large concrete slabs on each side of the bay. A local favourite!

Is a picturesque little and secluded bay,  Fishing and snorkelling are popular in this spot. Best accessed from Clovelly beach.

A cool little spot for a picnic and swim at the back of Vaucluse. Has a big grass area & little bay with a big shark net so it’s blocked off from the ocean. Very safe and family orientated.

Also out the back of Vaucluse, this is right on the harbour. Again has Shark nets around it to protect swimmers. Dare to jump?

This one is towards Double Bay. Has a large U shape jetty to walk around and jump off into the protected swimming bay. Park close by on street or small car park.

Reminds me of a movie set. This is literally someone’s backyard. It’s very flat, don’t expect any waves. Great place to take your puppy for a wonder and have a picnic.

A small (tiny) isolated beach with an amazing view of the city and harbour bridge.

Get ready for 30,000 people on Saturday. The safest and best area to swim is right up the end North side. Feeling game, head to the rock section for a dive in. There is so much to do here, check out Local Guides for more Bondi love.  The other two larger beaches are Bronte and Tamarama, I would recommend doing the Bondi to Bronte walk to really appreciate the stunning coastline.  Would also recommend these beaches for a surf.
