Farmhouse, Potts Point

I am so grateful to have found the perfect venue to hold my 30th Birthday. I felt so much love and warmth in this tiny gem called Farmhouse, I couldn’t have asked for more. I would like to thank Mike and Tristan for such a beautiful and special night. I highly recommend Farmhouse for anyone looking to have an intimate dining experience. I hope this post encourages you to try for yourself and explore what Farmhouse is about.

The Chefs
Mike Mu Sung (formerly of Sixpenny) and Tristan Rosier (formerly of Biota Dining)

Vibe
Intimate, rustic, cosy one room restaurant-barnhouse, with one long communal dining table. The staff are so friendly and attentive wanting to personally make sure you’re enjoying yourself, you feel like you are dining at a friend’s place where the food is passionately prepared and presented with love. You almost want to ask them to leave the kitchen and come sit down to eat. It’s that type of place.

Will impress
Everyone! Date night, catch up with the girls, dinner with long lost relatives – It’s a very humbling experience. Great company, fresh and delicious food, a glass of wine or a bottle. Good times! The experience is like a good book, one you will pass onto a friend you invited, who in turn, will  pass it  to one of their friends. That’s how I discovered this hidden gem – Thank you Nathan Soulsby for your recommendation!

Spend
$$  – $55 set price for 5 courses , two of those are desserts.

Dress code
Understated and effortless chic . Except if it’s your 30th, then go nuts!

Food
It’s a communal-style feast. The menu is seasonal , so its constantly changing. They often put the current menu on Facebook with applicable dates.  The food is phenomenal and there is a LOT of it! To start, we had a grazing platter of pickled vegetables, seeded watermelon, prosciutto, tarragon butter (the butter is amazing!!) and Tristan’s baguette. Followed by roasted king brown mushrooms, barley and artichokes, lamb shoulder served with Tuscan cabbage and sides of yogurt and spicy potatoes. We were then served tangy poached rhubarb, with a sweet meringue and grapefruit granita – the perfect combo! And of course, a birthday cake – Carrot & Raisin cake by Mike, which I will be picking up this week. My guests were so full we decided to save it so I can extend my birthday for another week. (Picked up the cake the following Wednesday and it was perfectly moist and delicious). The cake is served at every sitting whether it’s your birthday or not.

Final Note
There are two seatings a night 6.30 and 8.30. If you have between 20-24 guests you can hire out the venue otherwise you can make new friends at the communal table. Also If you have any dietary requirement, whether you are vegan, gluten free, no soft cheese, lactose-intolerant … they can cater accordingly, still providing you with a substantial meal.
